Personal Watercraft (Jet Ski) Safety

The below was copied directly from the California website for boating rules and laws and as you can see, I made bold the sentence which mentions that children (actually anyone) can easily fall off if not holding on tightly. Well...I don't get it...why not MAKE IT EASY for your passenger OR if you're usually the passenger, get the NUMBER ONE solution so NO ONE has to find a place to "hold on tightly"?
The obvious and best choice would be the patented and exciting new Grip-n-Ride H2O belt by LCSI. The belt, with its two comfort grips, is designed to be worn by the driver under or over his/her PFD giving the passengers a perfectly comfortable AND safe place to hold on regardless of anyone's size or age! The perfert solution to Personal Watercraft Safety! The waterways are filled with enthusiastic people enjoying the day on Waverunners, Jet Skis, etc. Make sure your passenger can enjoy the ride as well. See the Grip-n-Ride H2O at Grip-n-Ride.com...a MUST for ALL PWC enthusiasts gearbags! For a limited time only, enter code (gnr) at checkout to receive an instant $20 discount! • The majority of personal watercraft (PWC) related accidents occur when someone other than the registered owner is operating the vessel.  Make sure that people borrowing your vessel know how to operate it!
  • First time boaters are more likely to operate a PWC as they find it less intimidating than a larger craft, but in reality, the high maneuverability and the off-throttle steering issues can make safe operation challenging. Make sure they are also familiar with the rules of the road. California law states you must wear a life jacket when riding a PWC.
  • Young children aboard a PWC are not a good idea.  Riding in front, they often grab the controls, causing accidents.  Riding in back, they can fall off if not holding on tightly.
  • Remember that it is illegal to wake jump within 100 feet of another vessel, do donuts, or play chicken, or spray down other vessels.
  • When riding with friends on other PWC, keep a safe distance from them, and also a safe following distance, behind them.  Because these are jet-propelled craft, you will not be able to turn if you let off the throttle.
I'm fairly confident that most other States share same rules as California. If you want check your particular States rules for boating, simply search "Personal Watercraft safety rule for "your state"" and you should get a result.

Have fun this summer on the water! From all of us here at Grip-n-Ride!

Riding with a passenger on a motorcycle or scooter

Carrying a passenger on a motorcycle or scooter requires a degree of skill on the part of both the rider and the passenger. Since the motorcycle or scooter handles differently with a passenger on board, it is recommended that a motorcyclist have considerable experience as a solo rider. Even an experienced motorcyclist should not carry a passenger on a newly purchased motorcycle until he or she is completely familiar with the handling characteristics of the new machine.

A responsible motorcyclist will make certain that the passenger is wearing all recommended and required safety gear which includes a helmet. Most law requires that a motorcycle must be designed and properly equipped to carry a passenger. This includes separate seat and foot pegs or floorboards for the passenger. The passenger may not ride in front of the operator. Additionally, the operator should check the Owner's Manual and adjust the suspension and tire pressures to the recommended settings for passengers.

One key to successful riding with a passenger is for the operator to have consistent guidelines for the passenger to follow. For example, the operator should be seated and have the motorcycle running before the passenger gets on. Once a signal is given, the passenger should hold onto the operator's shoulder and mount the motorcycle. Their feet should remain on the foot pegs until the rider dismounts at the end of the trip and upon the signal of the operator.

For stability, the passenger should keep his or her hands on the operator's waist or a part of the motorcycle intended as a handhold however it is highly recommended that the patented Grip-n-Ride passenger safety belt be used. This will allow freedom for the driver and the security, safe feeling and comfort for the passenger. This may be purchased at Grip-n-Ride.com. The passenger should anticipate starts or stops and the use of the Grip-n-Ride belt  helps to avoid the hitting of helmets. The passenger should avoid any sudden moves or weight shifts, especially at low speeds. While riding, the passenger should look over the operator's shoulder in the direction of the turn.

Grip-n-Ride is a MUST for Snowmobilers

It's amazing...think about it...you're two up on a sled...travelling at 30 miles per hour and, as a passenger, you have to reach BEHIND yourself and grab on to a part of the snowmobile to hang on! NOOOOO!!! And furthermore, you can't get your arms around the driver (he/she doesn't want that anyways) plus way too much clothes and gear to deal with...

I know!!!! If the driver was wearing a Grip-n-Ride Passenger Safety & Comfort Belt with grips built right into it, the passenger would have a safe and comfortable way to stay on the sled! It brilliant!

Check it out at www.grip-n-ride.com today and enjoy the winter season!
